lyrics

I see the blue dot in the distance
i can’t believe i’ve come this far
if my peers were still alive they’d be so proud that i’ve arrived
i feel them with me in the stars

creation station at destination
i weep for the view, all the green and blue
like home but different, i’m closing distance
and soon i’ll commence this landing sequence

all this space and all this time in my wake
what's done is done, i’m so relieved the Grand Escape, it ends today

i see the surface and slow the engines
i’m not alone nor am i saved
there’s a mean lump in my throat as i’m making my approach
i spot the flag of the enslaved

i can’t believe it, they beat me to it
i failed our gambit to take this planet
what can i do now? nowhere to touchdown
last chance for free man already ruined

all this space and all this time in my wake
what's done is done, i’m so relieved the Grand Escape, it ends today

attention captain of the last resort
we've waited years for your arrival
surrender now, and you'll survive, come take your place among the hive
or be exploded in the sky

i can't get away, fighting is suicide
panic is the only thing that's keeping me alive
cause there's no mission now, there's no paradise
i am failure incarnate of all their sacrifice

i scan the landscape all tattered and raped
i spot a fleet of ships and repeaters
they're planning to spread once this planet's dead
what have we become? where did this come from?

all this space and all this time in my wake
what's done is done, i’m still relieved the Grand Escape ended today
and if I'm meant to die then maybe I should try
to score a few points for humanity while I'm still alive
you won't assemble me into your war machine
to do to another world what you've done to me
